3. EXECUTION
================================================================
a. Concept of Operations: Race per the current Racing Rules of
Sailing as modified by the STYC GSI, these Sailing Instructions,
and USCG VTS Navigation Rules. This is a shorthanded distance
race — full course (16.045 nm) or short course (2 laps) as
signaled before the start. Priority is safe short-handed
operation, correct mark rounding for the signaled wind direction,
and tracking the lap-1 completion signal to know whether the race
ends after one lap or continues to the second.
b. Schedule of Events:
RACE DATE WARNING SIGNAL 1ST START TIME LIMIT / TLE WINDOW
23 Aug 26 1055 1100 6 hrs (1st boat) + 30 min
c. Course:
(1) Full course length: 16.045 nautical miles.
(2) Short course, if signaled before the start: 2 laps of 5.114 nm
each.
(3) Lap 1 completion: a sound signal at the end of lap 1 means the
race is finished; no signal means proceed to lap 2. Watch and
listen closely at the mark.
(4) RC will take times at the end of lap 1, which may be used to
decide the race in the event winds die in lap 2.
(5) Either course may be shortened after the start at any mark per
the STYC GNoR.
(6) Mark sequences — confirm wind direction call from RC before
the warning signal:
